An ongoing investigation of how large scale systems organize themselves. It begins with Corabastos, the market that supplies Bogotá, photographed over ten years. What the structure cannot hold, holds itself.

I look at Corabastos from above. Structure: warehouses, streets, lines, limits, signs. Nothing in it obeys the structure. Trucks, handcarts, bicycles, crates, umbrellas, people. caos.

It is contained chaos. Everything and nothing is out of control. The system overflows and regulates itself outside what was designed, held by an order nobody drew: who stops where, who yields, who moves. An order that cannot be seen from the ground, but can be read from the air.

What is the distance between the written rules and the rules it runs on. What holds it, for how long. And whether the same happens in the city, in the country. It begins with the question.
