Alex Visbal

Alex Visbal is an aerial photographer based in Madrid. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, in 1981 and trained as an industrial engineer, he has spent more than a decade photographing the Earth from above, from small planes, helicopters and drones. A certified drone pilot in several countries, he chooses the tool each work demands.

His work follows two long term investigations. The first looks at water from above, where it takes on another scale: waters made by nature, waters made by us, often by both. The second, CAOS, looks at the ordered disorder of human systems, beginning with Corabastos, the market that supplies Bogotá, photographed over ten years. Both start from the same question: what is this, why is it like this, what formed it, what will become of it.

He has photographed in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Every print is made under his supervision and accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.
